Sphera Foundation

SPHERA is tax-exempt, 501(c)(3), nonprofit foundation.

The goals of SPHERA are to…

1. Edit clinical nutrition, nutrition and health books for health professionals.Latest (2001) is the 3rd edition of the CRC Handbook of Fiber in Human Nutrition (G. Spiller, editor).

2. Write popular books on health and nutrition with a popular, novel-like style, missing from many popular health and nutrition books. Again, many of these books need financial support in the early phases. Latest book is "Diagnosis: Heart Disease" (WW Norton, 2001).

3. Produce videos and films to inspire children and adults to proper nutrition, to the value of certain foods, proper supplementation, etc. Latest is our “Ancient Foods for the New Millennium,” now in many schools. These videos link the wisdom of the ancients to modern science. We are now designing a major 16 mm film/video emphasizing the need to move to plant-based diets. We plan to make this a noncommercial project with support from other foundations and, if needed, unrestricted support from industry. All the videos have two targets: the 6th grade and adults. DVD presentations will also be part of this part of the activities of SPHERA.

And…

4. SPHERA will use this web site for educational purposes and to communicate to the media. This will include results of studies carried out by the foundation or by its associate, the Health Research and Studies Center and will discuss other studies on nutrition, prevention of disease and related topics.Soon SPHERA will have a periodic newsletter on its web site

5. SPHERA will execute clinical studies to complement the work of Universities and other institutions.

6. The Plant Food Coalition is a new project of SPHERA to promote diet based on whole plant foods. SPHERA has created an upside-down pyramid to promote plant-based diets.
